On February 10, Shelley stepped out in London for the Lancome pre-BAFTA party with an exciting reveal. It seems as though she is currently expecting. Although there is no official confirmation of the news, it seems our eyes can make the judgement call thus far. Congratulations to Shelley & Family!
Also, be sure to look out for some great new updates coming in the near future and check out the site, now ontwitter!
In addition to some updates, I want to take the time to say that Tona, the former webmiss, has stepped down. I am Olivia, the new webmiss here at Shelley Conn Online. I’ve been a shelley fan for a multitude of years and can only hope to continue to bring you all the latest of news for shelley. The season finale of Terra Nova aired on 12/19, with caps now in the gallery. In addition, I have updated the gallery with the missing caps from episodes nine onward. They are both HD & Logo-less.
Let me apologize for being so tardy with this news post. I’m usually pretty quick with adding caps, but I don’t always have the time to post about it here. So, even if there’s no news post yet it’s a good idea to have a look at the gallery. Screen captures of all the episodes that have aired so far can be found in the gallery. I’ve just added the ones of yesterday’s episode “The Bylaw”.
A crashing meteor wipes out all technology and wreaks havoc on the colony. Meanwhile, Maddy and Reynolds are stuck out in the wilderness, Elisabeth and Skye work together to save a life, and Taylor tries to prevent Mira and the “Sixers” from invading Terra Nova. Also, a mystery man makes his presence known.

Terra Nova has been getting a lot of love from the pres recently. Cast and crew have been out promoting the show in the print media, on radio and television. Shelley and her on screen daughter Naomi Scott made the rounds in the Australian press. The two were interviewed by TheAge and made an appearance on morning show The Circle. Together with Jason O’ Mara Shelley also chatted to FoxALLACCESS. And if you still haven’t had enough, Shelley also spoke to What’s On TV.
Did you ever imagine that, after Mistresses, you’d get a role on such a big American show?
“Never in my wildest dreams. When the audition came through, I read the script and thought it was way out of my league and I’d never have a chance in hell of getting it. I was convinced by those around me to do the audition. It was quite a long process. My first audition was in May and I didn’t get the part until September, so I did a lot of auditions like Skype screen tests, then eventually I flew to LA for a chemistry reading with Jason O’Mara, who plays my husband – the lead character, Jim.”
How did you feel about playing mum to a 17 year old?
“I know! It’s definitely new casting for me, but that’s what you crave as an actress. Elizabeth’s the opposite of Jessica from Mistresses. The guy playing my son is actually 20 and I’m 34, so that took some getting my head around!”
You spent six months filming the series in Australia – what was that like?
“Australia is like nowhere else I’ve ever been to. The beaches are incredible and what really hits you about Queensland is the nature. You can go on these very easy hikes and come across the most incredible waterfalls that you can walk under.”
FOX’s Terra Nova is now in its second week and still going strong. Screen captures of yesterday’s episode 1×03 “Instinct” have been added to the gallery. I am glad to say that the show is very much sticking with the family drama focus. Shelley is wonderful to watch as Elisabeth. The press release for next week’s episode “What Remains” can be found below or you can watch a preview on youtube.
When Elisabeth, Jim, Malcolm and Taylor investigate radio silence at a nearby scientific outpost, they discover an outbreak of a mysterious virus causing memory loss, paranoia and eventually death. The group must work together to find a cure before they lose their sanity and all of Terra Nova is infected in the all-new “What Remains” episode of TERRA NOVA premiering Monday, Oct. 10 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (TN-105) (TV-14 L, V)
“Terra Nova” premiered on FOX Monday night and managed to draw an estimated audience of 9 million viewers. Reactions to the two-hour season premiere were mixed. I personally like that the show’s family-centric approach. Screencaptures have been added to the gallery. However, they are quite small. Next week’s episode captures will be in high quality. If you can’t wait for next Monday, you can read the press release for the second episode below.
Instinct: When Terra Nova comes under attack from a legion of Pterosaurs, pre-historic dinosaur birds Jim and Taylor must find a way to save the colony before its completely overtaken. Elisabeth discovers a former flame is also living in Terra Nova and may have been responsible for her recruitment. Syke tries to make Josh feel at home and Reynolds get protective of Maddy.
The wait is finally over Terra Nova will premiere on FOX tonight as a two hour special event. “Genesis”, as the two parter is titled, will introduce us to the Shannon family as they set off to the Terra Nova colony. The show has been surrounded with great hype since it was first announced and tonight we will find out if it can live up to fans’ expectations.
Jason O’Mara who plays Jim on the show recently did a series of impromptu interviews with his fellow cast members. The one he did with Shelley is especially sweet. You can watch it below.
As you can see Shelley Conn Online is sporting a brand new layout. The old one had been up for over a year already and I really wanted a new one. I hope you guys like it. Hopefully, the gallery will get a new look soon too. Along with a few of her Terra Nova cast mates Shelley attended the FOX Summer TCA where the show had it’s own panel. Images of the panel and the FOX All Star party have been added to the gallery. If you’re psyched for Terra Nova you might want to check out www.welcometoterranova.com – a superb website dedicated to the show that will keep you up to date on all the latest developments.
The cast of “Terra Nova” is featured on the 12 August cover of The Hollywood Reporter. The magazine went behind the scenes on the set to get all the inside scoop. The lenghty detailed article is accompanied by a photo shoot. The complete article as well as a behind the scenes video and gallery of the photo shoot are available on the Hollywood Reporter website.
[...]Not surprisingly, producers now call the delay a blessing. The team returned to Australia in late May, determined to add what was missing from the original iteration: an emotional hook to ensure the series would appeal to the family audience that its 8 p.m. slot necessitates. The plot now revolves more centrally around the Shannon family — matriarch Elisabeth (Shelley Conn), a doctor who helps her inmate husband Jim (Jason O’Mara) escape prison and, with their three children (Landon Liboiron, Naomi Scott and Alana Mansour), head for a new life free of 22nd century population laws put in place to combat the planet’s overcrowding in Terra Nova.
“I felt it was a mistake to ask the audience to follow these characters who you don’t know,” Echevarria says, adding that they incorporated a prologue into the first episode that they hope will pull the audience into the Shannon family’s backstory. “You can throw endless amounts of money at the screen, but if it doesn’t have a heart, people just don’t care.”[...]
“Terra Nova” was represented at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego with a panel and preview of the pilot. Fans were treated to the first half of the September 20 two hour season premiere. The preview was followed by a panel attended by executive producers Rene Echevarria, Brannon Braga, and Jose Molina, as well as actor Stephen Lang. You can find a full review of the previewed pilot and a break down of the panel here.
As you might expect from the first episode of such an ambitious, high-concept series, Terra Nova starts off with a lot of exposition and world-building. As such, it’s tough in some ways to say whether Terra Nova will work in the long run. Based on what I saw, the premise seems very interesting and the visuals look great, but I didn’t get a good sense of who the main characters were.
It’s fairly obvious that Terra Nova has grand plans for the kind of serialized, twisty plotting that makes shows like Lost so addictive. The occasionally clunky exposition revealed a couple of intriguing new plot points that I expect will be revisited later. One, the colony is located in a different “timestream,” and as such nothing the characters do in their prehistoric land should affect anything in 2149 — in theory, anyway. Two, Terra Nova is not the only colony in the prehistoric land. There’s also a group of settlers called the Sixers, who have their own shadowy agenda and don’t get along with the Terra Novans. [...]
n short, the first hour of Terra Nova wasn’t great, but it had enough positive elements to give me hope that the series will pick up after a few episodes. My fear is that Terra Nova will wind up like The Walking Dead, another show that had a great setup but totally failed its characters and wound up a huge disappointment as a result. My hope is that the series will end up more like Lost, a complex, plot-driven series with enough good character work to resonate with the audience on an emotional level. We’ll see as the show unfolds later this year.
